The 2011 Lamborghini Gallardo is a top-ranked exotic sports car next to models such as the 2012 Lamborghini Aventador, Audi R8, Ferrari FF and the Ferrari California.

The Lamborghini Gallardo is available in three trim levels: the 2-door Bicolore coupe, which starts at $219,800; the Spyder convertible, which costs $224,600 for the base model; and the Superleggera coupe, which has a starting MSRP of $237,600.

The auto press says that the 2011 Gallardo blows the competition away when it comes to things like exterior styling and driving experience. However, it won’t serve as a daily driver, due to its poor visibility and performance-oriented suspension.

Some rivals offer features that the Gallardo lacks, like a retractable hardtop and standard connectivity for Bluetooth and MP3 players.

Continue reading to find out approximately how much auto insurance for the Lamborghini Gallardo will cost. You can also type in your zip code info above for instant quotes online!

How much is auto insurance for the Lamborghini Gallardo?

The Lamborghini Gallardo is a limited production vehicle and there’s not enough consumer data available to determine how much the typical owner pays to insure it.

The same is true for other exotic luxury sports cars like the Ferrari 458 Italia and the California. However, there is available data on the auto insurance rates for sports cars like the Porsche 911 Turbo S Coupe, which costs $160,700, and the Audi R8, which starts at $114,200.

Although these vehicles don’t compare directly with Lamborghinis when it comes to performance or price, their estimated auto insurance rates will give you a baseline for what you can expect to pay to insure a Gallardo.

For 2012 Audi R8 car insurance, typical owners report paying $3,485 per year, or almost $300 per month. Estimated auto insurance rates for the Porsche 911 are even higher, averaging $3,713 a year or nearly $310 per month.

For a Mercedes Benz SLS AMG, which retails for $183,000, drivers report paying $4,374 annually, or $364 per month.

However, we have a feeling auto insurance for the Lamborghini Gallardo is probably just a tad higher and the old expression “If you have to ask then your probably can’t afford one” is quite possibly true.

Lamborghini Gallardo Performance

According to Cars.com, the 2011 Lamborghini Gallardo is available in three different trims. All three are equipped with 5.2 liter, 10-cylinder engines, but they vary in horsepower from 543 to 562. The Ferrari 458 Italia’s 4.5 liter V8 engine delivers 570 horsepower, and the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG gets 563 horsepower with its 6.2-liter V8 engine.

Though these vehicles both put out more raw power than the Lamborghini Gallardo does, many reviewers still consider the Gallardo to be a better overall performer due to its superior braking and handling capabilities.

According to U.S. News, the Gallardo coupe’s top speed is 202 mph, and it can hit 62 mph from a dead stop in 3.7 seconds. It can reach 124 mph in just 11.8 seconds.

For a Gallardo convertible, the acceleration rates are somewhat slower, at a still-impressive 4.0 seconds to 62 mph and 13.1 seconds to 124 mph.

Lamborghini Gallardo Fuel Economy

As far as gas mileage goes, exotic sports cars are not fuel-sippers. With a manual powertrain, the Gallardo gets 12 city mpg/20 highway mpg. Its city fuel economy increases to 13 mpg with an automatic transmission.

The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG gets the same highway fuel economy as the Lamborghini Gallardo does, but its city fuel economy is a bit better, at 14 mpg. The Ferrari 458 Italia matches the manual Gallardo’s city fuel economy, but has lower highway fuel efficiency of just 18 mpg.

Lamborghini Gallardo Safety Features

Exotic, limited-production vehicles like the Lamborghini Gallardo aren’t typically crash tested. However, this vehicle does offer standard safety equipment like electronic stability control, traction control, anti-lock braking, and air bags.

There’s also electronic brake force distribution, LED headlamps, daytime running lights, and an emergency trunk release.

Lamborghini Gallardo Warranty

Lamborghini provides buyers with warranty coverage for the Gallardo for three years, regardless of mileage. The warranty is inclusive of both roadside assistance and drivetrain protection.

This is a good deal for frequent drivers compared to the Audi R8’s standard warranty. It lasts for four full years, but is limited to just 50,000 miles.

Lamborghini Gallardo Interior Features

U.S. News explains that since Lamborghini is owned by Audi, the Gallardo’s interior has much in common with the R8’s. Although both vehicles offer superb fit and finish, their multimedia interfaces are considered vexing by auto critics. The Gallardo’s onboard computer features a lap timer for the track, and there’s also a standard USB port and heated mirrors. Other standard features include a tilt/telescoping steering wheel and dual-zone climate control. Options include Bluetooth, which is standard on some other exotic sports cars, as well as a navigation system, satellite radio, and heated seats. The optional rearview camera is also a handy feature given the Gallardo’s poor visibility.

Lamborghini Gallardo Cargo and Seating

If you buy a Lamborghini Gallardo, you’re probably not expecting to haul the family around in it or take it on a camping trip. Edmunds describes this 2-seater’s storage space as “negligible,” so if you’re planning weekend trips, you might consider a Ferrari California instead.

Not only is it a bit more comfortable for everyday driving, but it features 12 cubic feet of cargo space.

Reviewers also note that, like most exotic sports cars, the Gallardo is tricky to get into and out of because it’s so low to the ground. However, once you’re in, the critical consensus is that you’ll be comfortable in either the driver’s or passenger’s seat, even if you’re over six feet.

If this all sounds like a high price to pay for performance you can always consider the Mercedes Benz SLS AMG, which delivers track-worthy performance without sacrificing so much in the way of livability.

However many drivers would say “its still not a Lamborghini” and after all, who cares about money if you can afford one of these!
