Erie Auto Insurance Coverage Options

Erie Auto Insurance provides a large variety of policy options to customers, including over 30 features which can be insured on your vehicle.

Erie offers regular liability insurance, of both the limited and full variety for Pennsylvania residents; property damage coverage; uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage and optional policies for collision, comprehensive, and medical payments.

If you have after-market additions or custom improvements to your vehicle Erie even has auto insurance coverage to protect these items. Erie also offers additional benefits to its regular policy offerings, such as “loss of use” coverage when your car is unable to be driven due to an accident, travel cost reimbursement if an accident interrupts your trip, and personal property payments for luggage or personal items damaged as a result of the accident.

Erie offers vey competitive auto insurance rates and provides a numbers of auto insurance discounts including defensive driver discounts, low mileage discounts, student discounts, vehicle safety discounts, multi-policy discounts and more.

Erie Auto Insurance operates through a network of independent agents. These independent agents market and sell the policies, while the company provides adjustors and other personnel to handle claims.

Erie Auto Insurance Customer Service Review

Apparently, Erie’s customer-service approach is working. In the J.D. Power and Associates 2011 annual survey of car insurance customers to determine their feelings about their insurers, Erie Auto insurance placed 2nd overall among the 33 companies surveyed.

Only Amica scored higher than Erie, which had a score of 825 on a 1,000-point Customer Satisfaction Index scale. In the individual categories surveyed, Erie Auto Insurance scored four out of five stars, or “above average,” in the categories of overall customer satisfaction, policy offerings, and billing.

The company scored five out of five stars, or “among the best,” for pricing and contacting the insurer.

These numbers are obvious indicators that most of Erie’s customers are very happy with its service. Pricing in particular has always been a large factor in Erie’s popularity, as the company maintains low prices relative to other insurers in most markets.

Besides low prices, Erie is also very cognizant of its customer-service reputation and works hard to provide a good experience for each and every customer.

What are the disadvantages of Erie Auto Insurance?

There are a few disadvantages to this company, however. Erie Auto Insurance is not available in all markets; the company only does business in 11 states.

Another disadvantage to this small company is that it may be quite particular about issuing insurance to “high-risk” drivers. If you do not have a good driving record, or have had previous insurance cancellations or lapses, it is quite possible that this company may be reluctant to insure you.

This is due to Erie Auto Insurance’s commitment to keeping costs low for all drivers.

However, only an Erie Auto Insurance independent agent can give you a quote and determine if their coverage is a good fit for your situation.

You can find an independent agent by visiting the company’s website or by visiting an independent agent in your area and asking about Erie Insurance products.
