Eastwood Auto Insurance is a relatively new auto insurance company specializing in customized car insurance for various needs.

The company sells polices both through direct sales, from their website, a toll free number and by sales from independent brokers located in several states. The company also relies heavily on direct mail marketing to advertise its services.

Eastwood specializes in policies for high risk, difficult-to-place drivers such as drivers with uncommon vehicles, specially modified cars or even DUIs and other traffic citations.

Eastwood has a reputation of being able to place customers with low-cost auto insurance coverage that will meet their individual requirements, and has the expertise to deal with many common barriers to auto insurance coverage.

The company has independent agents and dedicated representatives who are available at non-traditional hours, such as evenings and weekends. They also employ brokers who can speak fluent Spanish, so many Spanish-speaking customers will be able to find information about policies without difficulty.

Eastwood Auto Insurance Company History

The company was founded in 1989 in Fullerton, California. It writes about $30 million worth of insurance policies annually. Eastwood is the parent company of AIG, and was recently bought by Titan Auto Insurance, itself a subsidiary of Nationwide Insurance.

While satisfaction ratings for Eastwood as a division are not available from independent rating agencies, such as J.D. Power and Associates, due to the small size of the company, its ultimate parent umbrella, Nationwide, is listed on these scales as one of the larger insurers in the United States.

Overall, Nationwide ranked below average for customer satisfaction in the 2010 J.D. Power & Associates poll, scoring 767 on a 1000-point scale, the 22nd most popular overall in the rankings.

Despite the parent company’s lower customer satisfaction ratings, Eastwood seems to enjoy more customer loyalty, probably due to its unique structure and the fact that it offers very flexible policy options.

Many customers seeking Eastwood insurance have already been dropped or turned down by larger carriers, so customer satisfaction may not be readily judged by common standards in this case.

Eastwood’s website offers Eastwood’s products online. It advertises locations in Arizona, California, Florida, Nevada, and Texas. Eastwood accepts all major credit cards online and even offers flexible payment plans, as well, to make it easier for customers to budget for their automobile insurance.

DUI Auto Insurance from Eastwood

Eastwood’s largest market is probably DUI-convicted drivers. In most states, drivers who have had a DUI have to file an SR-22 report with the state. Many major insurers are not interested in carrying policies on these drivers, leaving them scrambling to find affordable insurance and avoid license suspension or revocation.

In order to maintain a restricted driver’s license, many drivers with DUIs on their records must immediately provide proof of minimum liability coverage.

Eastwood specializes in finding affordable plans for these drivers, and will work with the customer to meet deadlines for SR-22 filings and other requirements stemming from their conviction.

Eastwood also offers low down payments for their plans. Many auto insurance companies require down payments as a “good faith” showing if the driver is considered high-risk.

By keeping down payments low, Eastwood focuses on helping a group of people who are usually already beset by high, unexpected bills; DUI fines and fees can mount up to thousands of dollars very quickly.

Most customers will be required to continue to pay extra premiums until a certain cash reserve is reached, at which time premiums may be reduced.

Of course, DUIs are not the only reason people choose Eastwood. Even a few speeding tickets or one at-fault accident can result in termination of your current insurance coverage, placing you in a high-risk pool of drivers that must compete for insurance coverage with a few, limited companies.

Eastwood serves this niche well, providing relatively low-cost premiums for drivers based on much more liberal limits than most major insurance carriers would allow.

By understanding their market, Eastwood has become a formidable force in the non-traditional auto insurance market.

The corporate headquarters for Eastwood are located in Anaheim Hills, California. Coverage is available in several states, although not all agencies can sell Eastwood products.

To find out if Eastwood coverage is available for you, you can visit their website, call the company directly, or visit a local independent agent to get a quote.
