Choosing a car insurance provider can be a tough decision and it should be informed by a variety of factors like price, coverage options and customer satisfaction.

You can enter your zip code in the box to compare car insurance rates but before you do, read on to find out if AAA offers the car insurance discounts and coverage options you’re looking for.

AAA: One-stop Shop for Drivers?

With headquarters in Heathrow, Florida, AAA is actually a federation of non-profit motor clubs from throughout the United States, and it currently boasts a membership of over 51 million. It is also known as Triple A.

Organized in 1902 by drivers who were upset over the poor quality of America’s roads, it has since blossomed into a nationwide organization that is known primarily for its roadside assistance and discount programs.

However, AAA has expanded its offerings to include travel, homeowners, boat, RV and more.

What Coverage Options Does AAA Offer?

If you purchase car insurance from AAA, you’ll be able to choose from the standard menu of policy options, including comprehensive and collision-only coverage.

In addition, you can purchase coverage in the following categories:

  • Bodily Injury and Property Damage Liability
  • Medical Payments
  • Uninsured or Underinsured Motorist
  • Rental Car Coverage

While these coverage options are fairly standard, AAA also offers extras like 12-month policies that lock in your rate for a full year, as opposed to the six month policies offered by most auto insurers.

AAA also offers a five percent discount to drivers who pay for their full policy upfront.

Another advantage of insuring your car with AAA is that you receive free Accident Assist as part of your membership.

AAA also provides its members with a lifetime guarantee on workmanship for claims-related repairs if you select an approved repair shop.

AAA Car Insurance Consumer Review

Since AAA car insurance is purchased directly from one’s local auto club, and most of these auto clubs are very small, their customers’ satisfaction is not rated by large organizations.

One exception to this is the Automobile of Club of Southern California, which is a club so large that it is assessed in national surveys like J.D. Power and Associates’ 2010 U.S. National Auto Insurance Study.

In this consumer survey, AAA’s California club matched the industry average with a score of 777 points out of a possible 1,000. It performed “Better than Most” in terms of pricing, but its performance in the “Contacting the Insurer” category was poor.

Should I Choose AAA as My Auto Insurer?

The factors that lead you to choose a particular car insurance company are very personal, but you can rest assured that AAA is a well-respected organization with many satisfied customers.

It is a good choice for consumers looking to “bundle” their insurance coverage, and its 12-month policy option is convenient for drivers who can afford the upfront payment.

In order to determine what the best auto insurance company for you is, though, you’ll need to enter your zip code in the box to compare rates.
